Xiaomi has officially launched its first Mobile VR Headset in China

Xiaomi on August 4 launched its first virtual reality headset called Mi VR Play. Currently they bought this device only for china users for a price of 1 Chinese Yuan (10 Rupees approx.) as  Introductory price. Xiaomi has been testing its VR headset for quite sometime. Now the company has finally developed a product that could reach the hands of many Xiaomi smartphones users.

The 208.7 grams Mi VR headset is compatible with smartphones with screen size ranging from 4.7-inch to 5.7-inch.

So What is Virtual Realtity?

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are popular keywords in technology field recently. Do you actually know what is VR and AR? A very good example of AR is the recently launched very popular mobile game: Pokemon Go which simulates artificial objects in the real environment while Virtual Reality creates an artificial environment to inhabit. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds with head-mounted display.

Here are some of the highlights of Xiaomi VR:

1. Immersive VR experience in lightweight, ultra-comfortable Lycra with secure two-way zip design
2. Textured metal button lets you control your smartphone easily
3. Anti-reflective, optical-grade aspheric lens provides maximum clarity
4.Anti-slip strips keep your smartphone secure and aligned with the lenses, no need to keep fiddling for the best possible view
5. Personalize and play. Mi VR Play comes with stylish suits that let you show off your personality
6. Accommodates 4.7”-5.7” smartphones
7. Mi VR app, an open VR platform for more content in China
8. Panoramic 2D and 3D Chinese content library

The headset requires a compatible phone to work . Xiaomi’s smartphones are yet to support any VR headset and it was but natural for the company to announce one.

For now, the Xiaomi VR is going to be available only in China. There is no word yet on India launch or availability, or even the price of the device, although it won't be very expensive going by the the way Xiaomi has priced it in China, that is if it comes to India.
